Tour length : 5 days

Day One

Up and over the famous Montagu Pass which is one the oldest and most famous passes (built in 1847) – one gets a fascinating sense of history. A 10km climb takes us over the spectacular Outeniqua Mountains and into the Klein Karoo. The scenery changes dramatically from lush evergreen forest to semi-desert karoo vegetation where we see the first of hundreds of Ostriches on our tour!! We overnight in the foothills of the awesome Swartberg Mountains on a small farm with rolling green lawns, English roses and lovely farm style cottages – Paradise ±72kms

Day Two

Cycling through the Kamanassie Mountain Reserve along the river to Eagle Falls you experience the vast open space and serene silence of this semi-arid land where the Ostrich rules. The unbelievable scenery: wild dusty roads and craggy cliffs make this a day to remember. We spend the evening in a rustic wooden lodge above the waterfall - very basic but very comfortable. The views are superb and you can unwind in the company of the Black Eagle. ±72kms

Day Three

Optional rest day. Plenty of activities for the energetic like horse riding, hiking in the mountains, swimming in the river or high dive at the waterfall. For the not so energetic you can simply relax on the deck while sipping an ice-cold beer. An exploratory morning or afternoon cycle at your request is also an option.

Day Four

From Eagle Falls we ride through to Uniondale and onto an old wagon trail – built by Thomas Bain in the 1800’s. This awesome trail takes us over the Poitjies Berg Mountain to the top of the famous Prince Alfred’s Pass. Then an awesome descent of +- 17kms with hairpin bends, rock pools, waterfalls and lots of screeching brakes. The Outeniqua Trout Lodge; a little bit of heaven nestled in the De Vlugt Valley; awaits us for our final stopover ±72kms

Day Five

We depart the Trout Farm and start climbing all the way up to Buffels Nek – a spectacular view awaits you at the top. This is day of many climbs followed by a thrilling single-track descent through the famous Knysna Forest. We finish the tour in Knysna and head off for an ice-cold beer. ±72kms
